About

Every four years IFLE hosts a Technical Assistance Workshop (TAW) for prospective applicants for programs funded under Title VI of the HEA, as amended.  In September 2013, IFLE will hold a TAW for FY 2014 competitors under the Centers for International Business Education (CIBE), Language Resource Centers (LRC), National Resource Centers (NRC), and the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships programs. During this workshop, IFLE staff will provide specific guidance on how to prepare high-quality applications, and experts in the fields of modern foreign language, area studies, outreach, and assessment will share their perspectives on these and other international education topics.

IFLE is jointly hosting the Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) Project Directors’ Meeting (PDM) that will focus on successful project implementation and administration. The UISFL sessions will be conducted one half-day (Monday, September 23 in the afternoon) and will highlight promising practices at UISFL grantee institutions and will allow participants to discuss the challenges and opportunities in initiating and institutionalizing their UISFL projects. The UISFL program staff will provide guidance on revising project plans and budgets, meeting the UISFL program priorities, and reporting project performance, among other topics.

Combining the Technical Assistance Workshop and the Project Directors’ Meeting into one venue leverages staff, hotel, and fiscal resources more efficiently, and enhances the professional development experience for all participants, including Department officials and program staff.

The legislative authority for this procurement can be found in 20 USC § 1132–4 - Evaluation, outreach, and information.

We look forward to seeing you in September 2013. Should you have any questions regarding this website, the registration process or the hotel you may contact us at info@iflemeetings.com or contact your ED Program Officer.
